What is Jesmonite?
All Craftwork pieces are made from Jesmonite — a sustainable, eco-friendly resin. Originally used in the building trade, but now used in lots of home decor. At Craftwork, we use every last bit, nothing goes to waste - those bits left in the bottom of the bowl - that's your terrazzo chips! (See below!) It's lightweight yet hardwearing, with a smooth finish.
A few things to know about Jesmonite:
- Durable and long-lasting, but not waterproof — avoid prolonged exposure to water
- Sealed for easy cleaning — simply wipe with a damp cloth
- Eco-conscious — water-based and low in VOCs
- Each piece is cast and finished by hand, no two are the same
- Air bubbles are a natural occurence in Jesmonite and are part of its charm
Choose Your Finish
Each piece is handmade to order — here's what to expect from each style:
- Solid Colour — one colour, perfect for minimalists!
- Marble — two colours swirled together.
- Terrazzo — a solid base colour with a selection of coloured terrazzo 'chips' or flecks of colour.
